A letter from the New York Firearms and Shooting Association (NYFA) to our Chinese community.

On Thursday, June 15, 2023, two African American women blocked traffic and intentionally used pepper spray to injure a Chinese person. The incident also involved the 109th Precinct of the NYPD in Flushing, New York City, failing to act and releasing the African American perpetrator. The New York Firearms Association (NYFA) filed a complaint yesterday afternoon at 3 PM, based on evidence from Chinese-language media reports and online videos, with the NYPD IAB internal investigation team and mainstream media outlets such as ABC. They hope for a proper resolution, punishment for the negligent police supervisor and officers, and the arrest of the African American perpetrator. Every Asian American does not want to be treated unfairly or insulted! This incident has negatively impacted the Asian American community's perception of the NYPD's 109th Precinct. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, we didn't hear from Flushing's Democratic council members (a party that frequently promotes so-called racial equality) or other representatives speaking out for the Asian American victim. With the New York City council elections approaching, their voices shouldn't be empty rhetoric only heard during elections! Imagine if this had happened in an African American community, and an Asian American had injured an African American without provocation—what would the consequences be? Our New York Firearms Association (NYFA) aims to increase gun ownership among the Chinese community and teach them how to legally use firearms to protect themselves and their families' lives and property. As a minority group, Asian Americans face inequality every day. But we believe that if we unite and raise our voices, we can definitely persuade the government to improve its treatment of Asian Americans!
