On February 21, 2026, the New York Firearms Association (NYFA) participated in the Year of the Horse Lunar New Year Parade held in Flushing, Queens, New York, joining the local Asian community and residents in welcoming a vibrant and energetic new year. The weather was clear and warmer than previous days, adding to the festive spirit of this celebration symbolizing vitality and forward momentum. After several days of severe weather affecting holiday events, the favorable conditions provided a welcome opportunity for the festivities. Large crowds gathered along the streets, creating a lively and peaceful atmosphere.
During the parade, NYFA members marched in orderly formation, carrying the American flag and the association’s banner, demonstrating a spirit of dignity, discipline, and unity. The association stated that its participation in community events reflects the positive image of law abiding Asian Americans who actively engage in public affairs. It also underscores the community’s respect for constitutional principles, the rule of law, and civic responsibility.

NYFA further noted that the right to keep and bear arms protected under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is part of the broader framework of fundamental civil rights. The Constitution likewise guarantees freedom of speech, freedom of association, and the right to peaceably assemble and hold parades. Within this constitutional framework, citizens are able to establish lawful organizations and participate in public affairs through peaceful, transparent, and lawful means serving their communities and fostering dialogue and mutual understanding among diverse groups.

Over the past year, under the leadership of President Lin, the association has continued to promote community service and public education initiatives. Its efforts have focused on protecting constitutional rights, firearm safety training, public awareness, community collaboration, legislative advocacy, and opposition to gun violence. The association has hosted multiple legal and policy information sessions covering topics such as firearm licensing procedures, interpretation of relevant laws and regulations, as well as practical guidance on government benefits and retirement planning. It has also maintained cooperation with other community organizations to exchange views on public safety and policy matters.
Looking ahead, the association stated that it will continue to deepen collaboration with community partners, expand public education and safety initiatives, and further improve the operational framework of its anti gun violence patrol team, including enlarging its volunteer base and strengthening professional training.
Guided by the forward driving spirit of the Year of the Horse, NYFA will continue to uphold its core values of lawfulness, rationality, and responsibility, contributing to the long-term stability and harmonious development of the community while respecting the law and cultural diversity.
