On the afternoon of Saturday, December 6, 2025, the New York Firearms Association (NYFA) and the Prosperous Community Foundation (PCF) jointly hosted a public seminar on "How New Yorkers Can Apply for Government Benefits" at the PCF headquarters in Flushing, Queens . The seminar attracted a large audience and created a lively atmosphere. The seminar comprehensively covered many government benefits of greatest concern to New Yorkers, including healthcare, food assistance, cash assistance, housing benefits, childcare and family assistance, educational resources, senior benefits, employment and vocational training, tax credits, immigration and legal assistance, as well as safety and ethnic benefits. The NYFA and PCF hope that this event will help more people understand the benefits they can apply for and the specific pathways to do so.

This seminar featured two guest speakers. The first speaker was Mr. Wang Ximing, an honorary veteran of the U.S. Army. He began by discussing the overall structure of government benefits, delving into the application logic and practical connections of various benefits, and sharing his years of experience interacting with government departments. His clear and well-organized explanation helped attendees establish a complete conceptual framework, earning unanimous praise from the audience.

(Mr. Wang explained childcare and family welfare policies in detail to the people present.)
Next, Mr. Lan Yan, a core member of the NYFA, took a practical approach, breaking down the application process for various benefits in detail. From eligibility requirements and required documents to common application errors, he explained each point with case studies, making the content easy to understand and allowing the public to quickly grasp the key points. During the interactive session, many seniors were particularly concerned about details such as Medicare, Medicaid, premium subsidies, family income limits, and renewal regulations. Mr. Lan answered each question and helped everyone clarify the complex provisions, leading many seniors to exclaim, "Finally, I understand!"

(Mr. Lan explained the categories and application requirements of medical benefits to the audience in detail.)
In addition, members of the public also asked practical questions about food subsidies and housing subsidies, including application waiting times, case inquiry methods, and the reapplication process after rejection. Both speakers answered professionally and patiently, making the entire lecture both informative and highly practical, and the atmosphere was very lively.

Following the event, PCF Chairman Wei Chen and Secretary-General Wei Chen stated that although the PCF and NYFA have different service areas, they share the same philosophy: improving community safety and enhancing residents' well-being. This collaboration symbolizes an important starting point for jointly promoting community development, and they look forward to co-organizing more events related to people's livelihoods and public safety with the NYFA in the future, providing more concrete assistance to the community. NYFA Chairman Lin and Secretary-General Li also highly agreed, stating that the collaboration will not only help improve residents' quality of life but also contribute to enhancing overall community stability and safety.

The seminar was a great success, providing the public with practical and reliable information and helping many families clearly understand the resources and protections available to them. NYFA and PCF stated that they will continue to give back to and protect the community through action, and hope to encourage more people to participate in making Flushing and the greater New York area a safer, happier, and more empowered place.
